She always made all of my sister and my halloween costumes and special little dresses, jumpers and blouses when we were kids, but I had no idea she would do such an stellar job on sewing all four dresses for my bridesmaids to wear!

We had a little fiasco with ordering some dresses online and them arriving with fabric that was completely see-through. Those were promptly returned. I didn't want to go with David's Bridal (I was opposed to it for some reason and in hindsite it probably would have been the easiest route) and going to a local dress shop was too pricey and I didn't want to have to make my friends buy 200 dollar dresses. So I asked my mom, "Should I hire a seamstress?" We looked at a few on ETSY and I did love what they were doing but my mom said, "I can do that, it's easy!".

In the long run I don't think it ended up being "easy" for her but she seemed to enjoy the challenge and the process of making them and creating something that is going to be so prominent at the wedding.

We picked out the pattern - a sun dress pattern we found from Simplicity Patterns. Then we took one of the groomsman's french blue shirts to a silk fabric store in Carboro, NC and picked out a fabric that matched the guys shirts perfectly. Pretty lucky that we found the exact match!

Mother dearest has been working diligently on these dresses for a few months now and she finally had the last fitting with the girls last weekend! And they all fit really well! Whew ... and although we hit a few snags it all worked out perfectly!

If I had to do it all again I would probably just pick a color swatch and tell the girls to just find a dress in that color. That way they could then find whatever they liked/felt comfortable in and also at the price they wanted to spend. Picking a color like navy or black probably would have made it a lot easier too.

But I picked french blue with yellow accents and that is what I love about the dresses and I'm so glad it all worked out. The girls are going to look beautiful! (And the guys will look handsome too - don't want to leave them out! Men's Warehouse had some great deals.)
I can't believe we are only ONE MONTH AWAY NOW! Yikes!

I think I took a break from blogging for a while for two reasons. First, because I have just been too gosh darn busy with wedding planning, preparing for a move across country to Denver and quitting my job while looking for another one. All that stuff sure takes a lot out of a gal. And Second, because I felt I didn't want my blog to come off as some kind of bragging show for all the things I was doing for my wedding.

But after numerous friends and family have told me how much they love to share the blog with other brides or party planners to get their inspirational juices flowing, I decided to start back up again. That IS the reason I started anyways, to share ideas with people to take, use or change to fit their event. After all I did steal pretty much everyone of my ideas from photos, other blogs and craft sites that I have visited. The internet is a limitless supply of DIY goodies you just have to find it. And since I LOVE to find it. I'm blogging about it. :)

Anyways, enough about the blogging hiatus. Onto wedding things. Look at these cute pictures of our cake topper!

These adorable little birds were made by a family friend from Minnesota. She hand sews tiny woodland animals and has her own ETSY shop. (If you would like to see more of Alice's Animals. They are pretty incredible.)

The thought behind using these birds as a cake topper was that we could then save the birds, attach a string to their backs and use them as Christmas tree ornaments for years to come. I love Christmas tree ornaments with a story. Every year when decorating my parents tree I get to relive those fun memories. And now starting a family of my own, (and hopefully having an actual tree next Christmas) these ornaments will be very special indeed as they will have sat atop our cake and witnessed the love and joy of our wedding day!

(Side note: If you have been following the blog the whole time you might be confused. Because, I am still doing cup cakes for the reception. So what cake will these little birds be sitting on you say? And, no they are not small enough to sit on a cup cake. We will have one 2 layer 8 inch round cake on a stand amongst the cup cakes on the table and that will be the cake we ceremonially cut and decorate. Everything else is cup cakes and cake pops!)

So there you have it. A cake topper you can keep and use for years to come.

It will be sitting a top the sugar cookie and fondant nest that I blogged about before. Thanks for reading and sharing!
So when thinking about an option for boutonnieres a miniature pinwheel came to mind and I never gave it a second thought.

Something about pinwheels just says youth, innocence and fun! And that is exactly the mood that I wanted to set at our wedding. The groom, groomsmen, father of the bride, father of the groom, grandpa and sweet little baby nephew will be donning these tiny pinwheels during the ceremony.

Boutonniere pinwheels were actually pretty easy to make. Here is how I did it.

Step 1.) Find some paper with a cool pattern on it. I used scrapbook paper but you could just use colored paper or even paint your own design on a piece of paper. Double sided scrapbook paper would work the best because then you will have different colored pattern on both sides when you fold the corners over. I just used yellow paint to paint the back side of this yellow patterned scrapbook paper.

Step 2.) Cut a 3 inch by 3 inch square. Then with and exact-o knife cut slits from the corners to the middle of the paper. Don't cut all the way across the paper, you want their to be enough middle intact so your pinwheels don't fall apart when you begin folding.

Step 3.) Fold every other cut corner into the center. Use hot glue to secure the corners down in the center. I used a button to decorate the middle of mine, but you could use a bead, sticker or whatever you think would look neat.

Step 4.) Now that you have assembled this little pinwheel, you could use it to decorate all sorts of things. Use it as a bow for a present or hot glue a tooth pick to it and use it as a cup cake topper. The possibilities are endless! Since I'm using them as boutonnieres, I flipped them over and attached safety pins to them. Just a little dab of hot glue and these boutonnieres are ready to grace some good looking man's lapel. And all the men in my wedding are extremely good looking! :)

I think the best looking man of them all (besides my fiance of course) is my little baby nephew! Just look at the 1 inch by 1 inch even tinier boutonniere I made for him, and tell me that doesn't make you say "Awwwww".

It is the first table you want all of your guests to visit after entering the reception venue (after they hit the bar of course). On the table there is usually important seating information, a guest book for people to sign and other favors or things that you might want your guests to pick up or see. So naturally people want to decorate the table a bit. But what to do?? Something fun to attract guests to the table but also something inexpensive because let's face it the guest table is a "get in get out" kind of area no one lingers there or revisits it. (Unless you put the guest table next to the bar, then people will see it many, many times that night.)

Our decoration solution was two wine bottles to go with our centerpiece theme and giant pinwheels!

Originally, I loved the giant pinwheels so much that I wanted to use them for the table centerpieces. But then I was reminded by a friend that giant centerpieces can be annoying to guests who can't chat with the person across the table from them, because a huge object is blocking their view. Not to mention blocking their view of dancing and other wedding happenings. So instead the giant pinwheels will be on the guest table!

Strung between the two wine bottles and pinwheels are a few photos of the happy couple. Also our guest book. I would say that probably most people don't get "excited" about their guest book, it is just a book where all the attendants can sign and wish the couple well. BUT, I am excited about this book.

We decided to go with a non-traditional guest book and get a coffee table book of the Blue Ridge Parkway and guests can sign in the margins. We got the idea from a family wedding in the Outer Banks and they used a coffee table book of North Carolina Beaches for guests to sign. Great idea I thought!

This book will be something that we will not only hold on too for a long time, because it contains great photography of the Blue Ridge mountains (that remind us of our home and the town that we meet and fell in love in) but also it will have all our friends and families names and supporting messages written in the margins. It will truly be a special book to have. So there it is. I'm excited about my guest book!

Also we will have a little hand stamped sign (that matches the invitations) to instruct guests to sign the book. Just in case someone is confused. haha.

Once again, I could not have done all this on my own. I got the over sized pinwheel idea from Kellan Studios. (The internet is an endless supply of amazing do it yourself projects, you just have to find them.) And my wonderful bridesmaids helped me cut out the paper and assemble these pretty pinwheels of happiness!

I bought colorful scrapbook paper from Michael's and the buttons for the center where just somethings that I had around the house. (I always hang on to random things like that, you never know when you might need them!) And with a TON of hot glue we had these beauties assembled.

I think I will string the extra ones on a string and hang them up for the back drop of a "photo booth". Yay!
jarnagin's jargonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01147231155427734780noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7671485172807508816.post-80745482484326386982011-04-08T13:44:00.000-07:002011-04-08T13:44:08.002-07:00Banded togetherWith the help of the photographer from my office, some lights and reflective backdrops, we held a little wedding band photo shoot today. It was fun to use the micro lens and play around with the reflections and lighting. We ran into some difficulties photographing Dan's ring because it reflected every little thing in the room. So you will see my little fingers and a big black circle which is the lens in some of the photos. But after constructing a few paper "huts" to block out all the reflections, playing with the amount of lighting and some photoshopping expertise, I think we got some pretty cool photos!

I think I love these photos so much because I am absolutely in love with my engagement ring and wedding band. I can never get enough of glancing down at my ring finger during the day and I can't wait to for the extra wedding bling to be accompanying my engagement ring for double the peeking pleasure.

My engagement is unique to me because it was Dan's mothers ring. Not only is it a special family heirloom but it has very special meaning to me to wear it. Plus, Teri (Dan's mother) had great taste because I think this sapphire engagement ring is wicked cool, vintage and just my style. I wish for every woman to love their engagement ring as much as I do. Every girl deserves that!

My wedding band was hard to pick out. It seems the style of rings now is "the bigger the better" and all the main jewelry stores (Kay's, Zales, etc.) had big honking wedding bands and they all looked so silly when paired with my delicate engagement ring. I needed something dainty for my baby 4.25 size finger. I ended up finding my wedding band at Capone's Jewelery downtown Blacksburg. They make custom jewelry but have all sorts of pre-made items to choose from as well. I loved their selection and talking to Faith who owns the store was so helpful. They never ship your jewelry away because they do all their repairs, sizing and appraising in house, which was very comforting to me. (I have heard too many horror stories of lost rings!) And they are a local business that had just the ring I was looking for! Love, love love.

Dan's ring is a simple comfort fit white gold band. We both got white gold but in the photos my ring often looks a little more gold in color then silver (which is what it looks like in everyday light). Dan's ring always looks silver ... which makes me wonder if his is really white gold. Hmmmm...

Anyways, enjoy the artsy photos of the rings!

I was looking for a stamping art project to do. Creating and using stamps to make art was one of my favorite projects in college. There was even a semester in experimental drawing where I used my own carved stamps to create patterns in pretty much all of my pieces. I thought wedding invitations was a great excuse to break out those former skills and bring my old linoleum block cutting set into action.

Here is how the process went and how you can do it too!

1.) I purchased a packet of postcard paper from Office Max. This paper was perforated so that all I had to do was layout my invitation text four to a page and run this paper through my home printer and tear apart. I used a matte paper that was textured for a little added detail. It was so easy that I plan on doing my thank you cards and programs with this same paper.

2.) Now for the decoration. I first designed what I wanted the invitations to look like in photoshop. I can't help myself, I use the computer to sketch out all my art work. I'm a graphic designer I think it is just natural for me to sketch on the computer first.

Once I was good with the design, I printed it out and sketched out the two birds sitting on a branch with two flowers above them directly on the linoleum block.

Then I began carving out the reverse of what I wanted the final image to be. I used a Speedball carving tool that I already had, but they are around 10 bucks to purchase from any art store.
I repeated the same process with two smaller rubber block stamps for extra flowers to use.

3.) I used a large flat plastic surface to roll out some yellow and blue printmaking paint. With two rollers I applied both blue and yellow paint to my stamp. The birds blue and the flowers above them yellow.

Make sure you use a water-base printing paint. That will ensure your invitations dry nice and fast so that you can do the other side in the same day. I made the mistake of using an oil base paint and although the colors are very vivid and beautiful I had those puppies hanging up for about a day and a half before I could do the other side. Even then, some of them stuck together.

4.) With a thin layer of paint on the stamp, I then lined up the back of my invitation with the edge of the stamp and applied pressure evenly to the surface to make sure all the paint transferred equally from the stamp to the paper.
(you don't want too much paint or when you stamp it paint will gush out and create a messy image)

I peeled back the invitation and my design was printed on the back!

5.) Then I hung up to dry. With the help of my lovely bridesmaids we repeated the process on a hundred plus invitations ... whew!

6.) Once the back side was dry I flipped the invitation over and using my separate flower stamps that I carved put one blue and one yellow flower on the front of the invitation.

7.) What was great about creating my own stamp for the wedding invitations was that I could now use those stamps on everything. Again with the help of my bridesmaids we stamped blue and yellow flowers on table cards, table numbers, RSVP cards, programs and various other things that will be set up around the reception.

Warning: Not every card is perfect and there are definitely ones with smudges but they are all hand-stamped and made with love!

This was a time consuming process but it was very fun!

It is also a good idea to print more then you need just in case you mess up on a few ... which is bound to happen because we are only human and that is why it is called handmade!

Happy stamping!

Coffee filter flower in blue wine bottle with yellow ribbon equals my wedding center piece!

Real flowers can be very expensive so I thought I would attempt an alternative to the real thing by making paper flowers for centerpieces at our wedding. I found this great tutorial on one of my favorite blogs, Design Sponge. It looked pretty simple with really inexpensive supplies (coffee filters are cheap!) so I thought I would give it a whirl. Here is how our experience went.

Once again my lovely bridesmaids (Kacie, Jenna and Allian) helped me a ton. We dyed, cut and assembled these pretty little flower and I think they turned out wonderful!

Step One: Dyeing the coffee filters. I used red, yellow and green watercolor paint. I used a mixture of red and yellow to create the darkest color and just a varied amount of yellow in the two lighter colors. If I had to do again, I would make the colors more vibrant by mixing more color into the water baths before adding the coffee filters. But because I doubled the "recipe" from the tutorial, I wasn't sure exactly how much paint to put in. If you try this tutorial use a lot of watercolor paint for more vibrant colors! Our colors turned out a really beautiful pale color. A nice, light, fluffy, pretty flower!

Step Two: After soaking for about an hour, we hung the coffee filters out to dry by rigging up some string in the bath tub and using mini clothes pins to hang them up. We let them dry overnight.

The bath tub was covered in paint drips but it was very easy to clean up because it was a water base paint.

I was thinking about having paper flowers or pinwheels for bridal bouquets too. But, I do still love real flowers, so I think I will stick with the real deal for the bouquets. Now I just have to get started on my garden so I can grow all those flowers myself! Or, more like it, purchase the already grown flowers from a local nursery. By growing them in my garden, I can enjoy those flowers all spring and summer as well as when I'm walking down the aisle.

I thought this would make a great alter but mostly I needed the boys out of the house for a weekend so I could do wedding crafts with my girlfriends. I don't know what I expected but I have to say I am really really happy with the way it turned out! Best of all it was free and handmade with love by my husband to be :)

Wedding alter made of fallen logs and branches from the Virginia woods!

The guys headed out for a hike in the morning equip with empty hiking backpacks, saws and a hatchet. They went to Pandapas pond, a popular hiking, biking and picnicking place near Blacksburg, Virginia. They came back a few hours later with a subaru station wagon of fallen logs and branches.

Sides of altar: They laid down four large logs and sawed off the ends so that they would stand flat and were all about the same length. Then taking two and placing them about a foot away from each other they nailed diagonally some smaller branches into the logs to hold them in place. Then tied string around each log end to give the illusion that this was all just tied together. (But these boy are engineers and couldn't have something that structurally unsound!)

Top of Altar: Three smaller logs with crossing branches nailed in, similar too the sides of altar.
Note: These three sides are all separate from each other to make transporting them to the wedding site easy. Once at the wedding site we will tie the top to the sides.

Getting the altar to stand up straight: Once the top is tied on the whole thing it is actually pretty sturdy, but just to ensure that not even a strong breeze or a tripping bride could knock it over they drilled holes in the bottom of each log and stuck a 1/2 inch piece of rebar in the bottom. Half of the rebar is stuck up in the wood and half sticks out the bottom to stick into the ground. This thing won't blow over that is for sure. (sorry no photo of rebar and drilled hole)

Now I just need to decorate it with some wild flowers and maybe some pretty fabric and we have a terrific altar to get married in front of!
Everyone has a cake ... or at least some sort of dessert. Some cakes are huge and beautiful and become a focal point of the decorations. Some cakes are so overly decorated an aesthetically pleasing that they end up not tasting all that good in the end. But they sure are pretty ... expensive. I think my style and budget call for something a little less extravagant.

Here is the plan.

Originally, my mom and I (plus other family and whoever was around two days before the wedding) were going to bake and frost about 150 cupcakes for the wedding. Nothing fancy, just frosting and maybe sprinkles, but we wanted to try to save on costs by making them ourselves. I thought "Making cupcakes is easy and this will be fun! Right?".

I think it was about two weeks ago when I had a mini freak out that I had too many things to hand make and assemble for the wedding. I realized that I would much rather visit with friends and family two days before the wedding then bake and frost 150 cupcakes! I'm sure my sanity will be pushed to the limits those few days anyways, why add extra tasks.

Bollo's Bakery in downtown Blacksburg will be baking our cupcakes for the reasonable price of $1.25 per cake. They have great cakes to choose from, they are a local business that I enjoy and like to support. Bollo's can mix and match any flavors I want and even have a vegan option! Plus they only need four days advanced notice so I can wait for all my invites to come back before I place the order. That's one sweet deal!

To spice things up a bit and add a decorative element to the cake table we got a three-tiered staggered cake stand and I ordered fun yellow and blue cupcake liners from an Etsy shop.

Since I am obsessed with having a personal touch to all things for the wedding there will be some hand made things gracing the cake table as well, don't worry. :)

--------------------------------------------

While looking up cake alternatives I discovered "cake pops" and they are so adorable that I had to include them! We will be hand making these but since you can freeze them before dipping them in chocolate we can make them well ahead of time. Expect little yellow and blue mugs of cake pops arrangements on the cake table.

--------------------------------------------

I didn't want a huge cake but I still liked the idea of having a cake to cut into with my new hubby. So on the top tier of our cake stand we will have a small 8" two layer cake. (Bollo's will also be making this).

We have sort of a bird theme going on so I thought two birds and a bird's nest would be a great cake topper. (Our theme is really just "things we like". I like birds. They are going on the cake.)

The two birds will be handmade by Alice Strand a friend of my mom's in Northern Minnesota who makes adorable little sewn animals.

The nest will be made out of sugar cookie and fondant. I found a recipe online and tried it out with my mother the last time I visited.

Here is how our trial baking day went.
Once again please excuse my shabby appearance. Apparently, I like to do crafts in my pajamas.

Using brown food dye we rolled out sugar cookie sticks, baked them and then stacked them to form a nest. I fell in love with hoop dance (as the hooping community calls it ... yes, there is a hooping community) at my favorite music festival Shakori Hills in North Carolina. Watching these women (and even some men) dance to music in a field while decorated hoops seemed to spin effortlessly around their bodies, was quite mesmerizing. I sound like quite the creeper don't I? But seriously, it is a beautiful form of dance, just as ballet or hip hop is. Haven't you heard of a little bump N' grind? (that joke is for Anna).

I decided that I wanted to learn how to hoop dance. I have taken a few classes/workshops and now attend "hoop jams" on a regular basis. I have drank the red cult cool aid of the hooping community and it tastes good!

Maybe if you are lucky I will post a video of me hooping. That should give everyone a good laugh ... I don't quite hoop as effortlessly as the festival hoopers yet. But I'm getting there!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Last summer we attended our friends outdoor wedding on a farm in Orange, Virginia. We camped at the wedding site and partied the night away. A few people, including myself, brought hula hoops for the reception and they were a big hit with all the guests. That is when I decided that our wedding reception would also turn into a big hoop jam!

So, as one of my bridesmaids gifts (the other bridesmaid gift is a surprise) I decided to make hula hoops for them. I had the instructor of one of my hooping classes cut and connect the pvc pipe for me. (She had the tools to do all that, I didn't). I ordered the tape and began decorating my first hoop.

Step One: I covered the whole hoop with a yellow base of gaffers tape I ordered from Tape Brothers. Gaffers tape has a fabric like finish and is not slippery so it has good body grip while hooping.
Note: I think when taping my next hoop I will angle the tape more while doing the base, like step two. I got a lot of air bubbles and tape folds doing it this way which I did not get when I applied the blue tape at more of an angle.

Step Two: I angled blue gaffers tape as a candy stripe around the entire hoop.
Warning: The photo you are about to view, exhibits a scrappy, exhausted-looking me. I was sick this day, as evidenced by my tissue box, cup of water and mismatched house-bum outfit. Although, this is not much different from my usual after-work attire.

Step Three: For the last layer, I applied glow tape at the same angle as the blue tape. This was a little difficult getting it to match up perfectly but with a slow and steady hand it went on just fine. This final tape is a glow-in-the-dark tape that after being charged by the sunlight it is "supposed" to glow for 10 hours of hooping fun! I tested it, and it does indeed glow. Not sure about the length of glow time yet.
Super Fun Game: Can you spot Snookie and Splinter, our kitties, in two of the photos? They enjoy hula hoops too!

My hula hoop is now decorated and ready for action! This was a test hoop for me. I have four more to decorate for my lovely bridesmaids. Glad I did a test run because I think my next hoops will have a smoother finish.

The wedding is sure going to be a hooping good time!
Meaning, I will not be purchasing any flowers from a florist and I'm trying not to purchase any random containers, expensive fabrics, chair covers etc. I can do this frugally gosh darnit! I can right?

Since our wedding colors are yellow and blue, my idea was to use a blue wine bottle from one of our favorite local wineries, Chateau Morrisette, for part of the table center pieces. Since Our Dog Blue is one of Dan and my favorite white wines we though it would be easy to drink 20 or so bottles before the wedding. I mean, we had 11 months that's two bottles a month. The first few months went great, friends and family were helping out and we collected quite a few. But then it got cold and white wine is a warm weather drink and well, we got pretty sick of Our Dog Blue. But luckily being the "Chatty Kathy" that I am, I managed to corner a Sommelier at a Christmas party at the Holiday Inn, explain to him why I was a good customer but wanted to drink some red wine for a change and convince him that he should give me free bottles left over from the tasting room at the winery. Actually, he offered and it didn't really take much convincing, but it just goes to show that being friendly to the right people and asking them the right questions, can often get just what you are looking for.

A week later I had a case of blue empties delivered to me at work. Now that is service!

Now for the hard part, scraping those pesky labels off so it is just the pretty blue bottle.

Step one: I gave them a bath.

Step two: I used a spoon to scrape all the soggy labels off.

Step three: There was still sticky residue on all the bottles so I just gave them a little squirt of googone and rinsed them with soap and water again. Rubbed them dry to get any remaining stuff off and ta-dah ...

Pretty blue bottles all in a row!

Now, all we need is something to spruce them up a bit. How about a yellow flower?

Next task: Hand making the yellow flowers. I found this template for beautiful DIY flowers on one of my favorite blogs designsponge.

Yes, I'm going to hand make all of the flowers for all the tables center pieces from coffee filters! Think I'm too ambitious? I've got a secret ... I have enslaved my bridesmaids for a weekend of wine and crafts where we will complete all of the ridiculous projects I have set out to do for the wedding. Hopefully the wine doesn't spill all over the crafts after a few bottles.

But at least we won't have to be drinking Our Dog Blue.

So I started looking at old emails that people had sent me of neat wedding decorations. If anything can cheer me up it is paper flowers, pinwheels and colorful flags. But I found something even better then that! A slide show that my wonderful bridesmaids Kacie and Allian put together for our engagement party last fall.

It made me so happy to watch it again after not seeing it since it was created a few months ago that I just had to blog it!

Warning: It is a pretty long slideshow AND to all close friends and family, you will make an appearance in this video, and are more then likely obviously intoxicated and gushing love all over me and Dan. You have been warned ...

Now to get a little sappy.

When I watch this video, I feel so happy to have all the awesome friends that I have. I feel so grateful for Mavis, Taylor and Rachel who are the best family a gal could ever ask for and I feel so lucky to be entering the Phipps clan who are just as wonderful. But mostly, the thing I feel when watching this video is deep affection for my best friend and love, Dan.

Ahhhhh ... I know you are all squirming with the blatant PDA I just released on you. BUT it is true.

Not everyone gets to marry someone that lets them act and be so completely themselves, no matter how ridiculous or silly that may be. I am blessed to have found that person. The person who will love me no matter what, who will encourage me to be a better person and chase my dreams, and who is, quite simply, just fun to be around.

I think I may have just wrote my vows. That wasn't so hard!

But I'm sure it won't sound anything like that on the wedding day because I will be bawling to hard.

I cried at the Disney movie Tangled because I was so happy at the end when she found her family, I don't know how and the heck I am going to make it through my wedding without hysterically sobbing the whole way through.

Can't wait :)
Although I'm sure there were at least 150 people packed into 301 Janie Lane many occasions. Even though I did not live in that apartment I was responsible for throwing a few parties there, and even though the birthday girl sometimes didn't show up all the kegs did get kicked. But how in the world do I figure out how much booze to get for a wedding?

Dan has advocated getting as many kegs of Coors light as possible. I would like a few more wine options. Some people will drink wine some will drink beer. Should we even get liquor? HOW MUCH?

Then we discovered the boozulator or as evite calls it the drink calculator.

This pretty handy little thing lets you put in how many people you are having, what alcohol you will be serving and what kind of drinkers you are expecting, and then magically it pops out a number. Now I don't know how it came out with this number but it seemed in the ball park that we were thinking so I except that as complete truth. Why would the boozulator lie to me?

So we are going with: 3 kegs and 90 bottles of wine. And why not throw in 4 handles of liquor for good measure. (those will go quick)

It still sounds like a tons of alcohol. I think we have too much beer Dan thinks we have too much wine. But then we remember our good friends Josh (stumbling beer man) and Anna (wine mustache queen) and we probably got it just about right.

Come thirsty! (And don't worry not all the kegs will be Coors Light ... we might spring for something really fancy like Yuengling)

Why, you ask?

Well, I had contemplated starting one to blog about wedding planning for a while now. I have found so many other people's blogs about wedding stuff really helpful. Plus wedding pictures and ideas are just fun! I suppose some random bride-to-be may stumble across this as she is frantically searching for cheap table number holders and see how I handled it and be grateful. OR she might say how ugly was that girls center pieces .... blahhhh.

Whatever, I'm doing this.

Now for the most important part about this blog. It's name. Jarnagin's Jargon. First, I just want to credit that title to Jeff Coyne. When I was in college and working at the Collegiate Times as a designer, Jeff kept telling me that I should try to get a weekly column for me to just tell bad jokes and talk on about nothing (you know the normal conversation that you would have with me) and call it "Jarnagin's Jargon". Although this was a fantastic idea it never came to fruition because quite simply I can't write or spell or ain't do none of that darn grammar stuff neither. But then I realized the actual definition of Jargon (did I mention that my vocabulary is pretty weak as well) and thought with a title like that I can write terribly about nothing and that would be what my readers (what readers?) would want. Right?!

Dictionary.com's definition
